Conditions and Prices of Commission Portraits Types of Commissions Pet Portraits Pet portraits are done in almost any medium and on many occasions I may suggest a particular one just for your project, to create the best finished product possible! I have two dogs of my own, beautiful Great Pyrenees, and one was the subject of an oil painting. Horses are my most beloved creatures, and I have done several portraits of my own animals as well as others, capturing their personalities with pen, pencil, and paint. I accept all pets, be they birds, fish, alpacas, or zebras if you have one! They needn’t even be considered “pets” in the everyday term. Your prize cow or a beloved pig who won that blue ribbon at the fair would make a perfect subject! ----------- People Portraits My portraits are done in sketch, pen, oil, or acrylic. I’ll do commissions ranging from portraits of a child’s hero celebrity, to your home-grown heroes, or just that photo of your little girl or boy smiling at her birthday party. Every detail counts, and the more you tell me about this special person, the more I can translate and incorporate these details into a special portrait. The displayed sketch of my own Grandmother serves as a perfect example of taking in the details of personality. ---------- Character Portraits Describe away! This is one of my favorite subjects other than horses. Whether you have a story that needs a character, or you’re looking for something just for fun! I love to use my imagination, and such commissions as character portraits and illustrations are a perfect way in which I may be creative with your ideas. I do them in basically all mediums and most portraits are done on 11” x 14” paper. ---------- Further Issues You Need to Know I do not always complete portraits in first-come first-serve bases. Other projects may be smaller, simpler, and require possibly only an hour, while a larger project which may have been submitted first will require scattered hours throughout several days. Keep in mind timing will depend on my workload. I WILL inform you if there are any delays with your portrait(s). If I am severely backlogged, I will not take any more projects until I have caught up with my current commissions. Everyone will be informed via my homepage. I am a respectable artist who appreciates modesty and I will NOT do nude portraits or anything containing “barely there” style clothes, unless it is a commission of a baby portrait. I’m sure we may all agree that a baby in diapers or in a fluff of feathers is perfectly cute and acceptable! As the artist, I have the right to display and sell the prints of anything done in my hand. If you wish to purchase the exclusive rights and privacy of a painting/sketch, you may, but I will still retain low resolution images for advertising. --------- Important Details Needed From You For all real-life portrait commissions, I must have a clear picture at full quality in order to provide an agreeable product; otherwise I cannot guarantee your satisfaction on the completion of your portrait. I will also need a full description of the subject(s): Personality, good habits, bad habits, and a description of your relation to the subject(s). These specific details will be essential in capturing the personality of the subject(s) in the portrait! If you would like two or more subjects in one portrait and do not have one photo with all subjects included, I can add them for an additional cost according to the difficulty of the poses. I will usually do exact-to-photo paintings/sketches, but if you would like me to do something “at random” please inform me and add suggested details. For Character portraits I will need a description of not only looks, but personality. Details most needed: hair style/color/length, facial distinctions, body build/height, clothing, and anything else you believe may be helpful. If you want a portrait done in the likeness of a certain individual, please provide a photo for reference. Remember, details in describing personalities and relationships concerning each subject are essential in creating a portrait with true character. I believe the eyes reveal the soul and character of each being, and if I can know them a little better, I can capture that special glint. ---------- Sizing Sizes usually run from 11” x 14” to 18” x 24” depending upon the nature of the portrait. If you have a size in mind, I will gladly comply, though if I believe a different size would suit the commission better, I will give a suggestion. ---------- Terms E-mail me your request with photo(s), I will review it, and if I approve the commission, I will e-mail you with a quote. Once you accept this quote, I will e-mail you my Paypal form. A 20% non-refundable portion of the quoted fee will be required of you before I begin. If you request, I will e-mail you with low resolution WIP snaps, so that you may see your portrait unfolding or change something before it is completed. After I have finished, by rule I will send you the final low resolution snapshot. Once you approve the finished work, I will request the final fee. After, and only after, the entire fee comes through, I will send the original work to your address and there you have it! All payments will be made by Paypal or check. Your first check will be the non-refundable starting fee. The check MUST clear before I can start work on your portrait. If Paypal is your choice of payment, again, the first installment MUST go through before I begin.
